Residential Support Worker – Young Adults

Job Description

Our client is a charity dedicated to providing a creative, happy, and secure environment for children and young people with complex needs and additional communication challenges from across the UK.

We have 17 home-from-home, four-bedroom houses for children and young people who need residential support. We can provide 24-hour care, weekly and termly boarding, and 52-week placement for individuals aged 3-25 years.

This opportunity is to support either our children aged 3–18 years old or our young people aged 19–25 years old. All our homes are based on our one site and so no travel is required.

Job Role

As a Residential Support Worker, you will play a vital role in creating a safe and nurturing environment for the young people we support. You will work one-to-one providing daily care and support for our young people including supporting their personal care needs, mobility, daily routine, communication, independent living skills, learning and access to leisure activities

  • GCSE grades A–C in English and Maths, or an equivalent Level 3 literacy and numeracy qualification, is essential.
  • A Level 3 or Level 4 qualification, such as the QCF Level 3 Diploma in Children’s & Young People’s Workforce or NVQ Level 3 Health and Social Care (CCYP) Diploma, is desirable, or a willingness to work towards this.

  • As challenging behaviours may be present in this role, candidates should be prepared to work in a high-pressure environment at times in order to fully support both young people and staff. A comprehensive induction programme, including behaviour management training, is provided, along with ongoing support in the role.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
